Vegan Product Preference and 'Cruelty Free' Trend in Skin Care

Natural, Organic, Vegan and Cruelty-Free: Understanding the Differences

The skincare industry has seen a significant shift toward more ethical and sustainable products. Terms like natural, organic, vegan and cruelty-free are used frequently, but it is important to understand what each one means:

  • Natural: Products made primarily from ingredients found in nature, without synthetic additives.
  • Organic: Products made from ingredients grown without pesticides, herbicides or genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
  • Vegan: Products that contain absolutely no animal-derived ingredients.
  • Cruelty-Free: Products that have not been tested on animals at any stage of development.

At MaruDerm, we believe in working with nature to create effective skincare solutions that respect both people and the environment.

What are Vegan Skincare Products?

Vegan skincare products contain no animal-derived ingredients whatsoever. These products are tested and verified by organizations such as the Vegan Society to ensure they meet strict vegan standards.

Vegan vs. Vegetarian Products

It is important to note that vegan and vegetarian products are not the same. While vegan products exclude all animal-derived ingredients, vegetarian products may still contain ingredients like:

  • Beeswax
  • Propolis
  • Honey

These ingredients are derived from bees and are therefore not considered vegan, even though they do not require harming or killing animals directly.

What Does Cruelty-Free Mean?

Cruelty-free means that a product and its ingredients have not been tested on animals. Cruelty-free products are identified by the rabbit logo (Leaping Bunny) on their packaging, which serves as a recognized certification mark.

MaruDerm's Commitment

All MaruDerm products are cruelty-free. We are committed to ethical practices in all aspects of our business. Furthermore, MaruDerm does not supply products to countries that require animal testing, reinforcing our dedication to animal welfare and cruelty-free beauty.
